Mary at 39 Weeks/9 Months

Sweet little angel-
You are nine months young today! I loved you for the nine months you were growing inside of me and now I have had the privilege of loving you for the nine months you have been growing outside of me! When I was pregnant with you I was so eager to meet you that the days would drag. I prayed for you to hurry up and get here so I could meet my precious baby. Unfortunately God answered my prayers but instead of getting you to me quicker now He is making time fly by once I had you. I can’t believe it was nine months ago that our eyes first met. You are getting so old, so quick that it makes me want to cry. Two nights ago when I couldn’t get you to fall asleep I scooped you up in my arms and it hit me, right then and there, that you are outgrowing my arms! How could this be happening already? I used to be able to cradle you in my arms and you fit so perfectly. You would lay there so content and stare up at me. Now you get all squirmy when I try to cradle you and you start flinging your arms to be freed. I miss those infant days.
You had your nine month appointment and you now weight 20.2 pounds (75% percentile) and you are 27 3/4 inches (50% percentile) long. The doctor says you are amazingly healthy and strong. I agree.
You want to walk so incredibly bad that you cry to be put on the floor. I think you’ll be walking within the next month. You are wobbly when you walk with my one hand but you are getting stronger each day. When you hold both my hands you can nearly run across the room!
You are starting to get in the crawl position more but you don’t like too. Instead you would rather scoot like a snake to get around.
On Sunday, your daddy was a real sweetheart and drove out to East BooFoo (that means far away) to get you a sandbox that I purchased off craigslist. Your papa is going to get you play sand and hopefully you will be able to play in it next week.
Grandma, Aunt Tara and I went and picked up your rocking dog that I purchased off craigslist. You have been having so much fun riding your dog these last few days. Monday morning I couldn’t get you to nurse because you were staring and pointing at your doggie. I had to let you ride the dog for a bit before you would nurse! It is so cute when you get excited to play with your toys!

Lately you have been getting really excited when daddy walks in the door from work. For some reason you find him so hilarious that you get the biggest smile on your face and started doing your “HA HA HA.” He makes you laugh so hard that sometimes I think you are going to pee your diaper! Daddy wants to kiss on you all the time. It was really funny last night when he went to kiss you goodnight and you slapped him across the cheek and scratched his face. You didn’t realize what you were doing but it was really funny.
This past month you have started to enjoy eating solids. We switched feeding you oatmeal & rice cereal at night and now we are doing it for breakfast. Most days, for lunch you are eating an entire jar of baby food. During the day you will have two snacks and for dinner you are eating scraps of mommy & daddy’s food. Over the weekend you tried goldfish crackers and chicken for the first time. You loved the chicken! Last night daddy cooked chicken and he didn’t season two of the pieces so you can eat them tonight!
Over the weekend you were invited and attended your very first birthday party. The party was for your friend Ella who turned two. It was during your nap so you were getting crabby but you made the most of it.
You still sleep with mommy and daddy but that’s okay. We love cuddling with you. Waking up next to you every morning is a real treat.
Being your mommy is the most incredible job in the world. I thank God everyday for your life. I love you!

Time does fly. I started reading your blog almost a year ago when my husband and I decided to start trying for a baby. I love reading your posts and I hope god blesses us with a beautiful baby soon.
