7 Quick Takes Friday (#28)

It is double coupon week at K-Mart. I was able to buy Tide, a toothbrush, contact solution, Women’s One a Day vitamins, Pantene conditioner and Vaseline hand lotion for $19. I’m hoping to make it back there today to buy some more stuff. We desperately need toilet paper and I have two $1 coupons which would be $4 off.

Mary Rene has been doing so much better in her swim classes. The first two weeks she didn’t seem to care for the classes and Frank didn’t want to go back. But we gave it another go and the last two weeks she has had fun. This week she was swimming (with my assistance) after the toys and even singing. When baby girl sings you know all is good.

I sent out an email earlier this week about how we needed to hire someone to do repairs to our house. A number of my friends responded with names of people who do this type of work. Most of the people owned their own company. Frank and I are on somewhat of a budget with me only working part-time so we really wanted to be conservative on the amount we spent. Well…Frank’s good friend Jim offered to help us do part of the job! He came over last night, with his amazingly beautiful wife Nicole, and he took the measurements for our new wall. Starting Saturday, Frank & Jim will start constructing the wall in the basement. Don’t worry, I will take before and after pictures. Right now our basement is a disgusting mess. My goal is to create some type of order to the mess. This will help me complete #60 and #66 on my 101 in 1001 list.

This next statement is going to contradiction the above statement regarding being conservative with our money but…The All-Star game is in St. Louis and Frank got tickets to the Home Run Derby on Monday night. I am so excited for him because I know this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The tickets weren’t cheap but like I said, he may never have this opportunity again. I am so extremely happy for him because I know he really wants to go. Since we met we would always watch the Home Run Derby together on tv. It actually is pretty exciting and I know Frank will really enjoy seeing it in person.

I’m still not fertile.

Another email I sent out this week was about how I am having trouble getting Mary Rene to eat. The girl could easily go days without eating solids-she loves her mamma’s milk! Everyone was very gracious and suggested many different foods we could try. However, all the foods they mentioned were foods we had already tried. Except for the cottage cheese and watermelon. So yesterday I went to the store and bought both items. But I have realized that Mary Rene will eat if I let her feed herself. The only problem is…

she is a very messy eater. I mean really, if you give a 9.5 month old a spoon, 9 times out of 10 the food isn’t going to land in her mouth. But what can you do? So I just let her feed herself and make a mess. Sure it makes more work for me but my baby girl is getting all independent on me.

This last thought comes from Frank: God is great, beer is good, people are crazy. And to understand why he is saying this, here you go…which is really because he hated country music. My pregnancy made me addicted to it. He didn’t want to hear it when he was in my car but you know how it goes, the pregnant woman always wins. And so now, he listens to country music.

Amazing job with the coupons! I wish we had a Kmart here - my mom’s always talking great about their sales and coupons.
Those baby food pictures are adorable! I don’t envy you the clean up job, but if it helps her eat? It’s all worth it in the end

Pictures are adorable! One thing that you have easy is that you have Sophie to clean up the floor under the highchair. I have to get on my hands and knees and clean under ours. Sometimes I want to go get the neighbors dog. ha!

I LOVE those pictures of her feeding herself! Be glad she wants to feed herself, because my 3 year old still asks me to feed him sometimes! heheh!
