Buster Boy

Today my daddy had to put his beloved friend, Buster, to sleep. Buster had a few tumors and the last few months his appetite had dropped significantly. Last week he started throwing up all his meals and this week he wasn’t eating at all. So my daddy finally accepted the fact that it was time to say good-bye.

My daddy had to put our other dog, Pepper Ann to sleep in August 2003. The following month I got Sophie and soon after Buster came along. Buster was a much needed light of sunshine because Pepper’s passing left a big hole in my daddy’s heart. Sure he had our other dog, Brandon Lee, but Brandon never compared to Pepper. About a year after getting Buster, Brandon had to be put to sleep. So for the last several years it has been just Buster. Us kids all had moved out and my mom worked third shift. Most nights it was just my daddy and Buster hanging out. They became the best of friends.
My daddy was really heartbroken, and still is, so all us kids went over yesterday to hang out and say good-bye to Buster. (The first picture was taken early last week, but too cute to not include.)

Losing a pet is so hard. They are your friend that never gets mad at you. The friend that is always there to listen. The friend that doesn’t judge you, no matter what you say or do. The friend that will go anywhere and everything you go. Your best unconditional friend.

Trena, my heart aches for your dad. Most of us who have had pets are whole life know just how much they become a part of the family and, while no words can ease your dad’s pain, please tell him I am thinking of him.

Trena, I’m so sad about your dad and your whole family having to say goodbye to Buster. A dog is such a faithful, loving companion, full of unconditional love for its master. A “furson” is truly a God-given gift, because our Creator knows we need these furry persons in our lives. I’m praying your dad will consider adding another furson to his life when the time is right. Warm hugs!

Aw, Trena I am just so sad to hear about Buster. He has the cutest little face I have ever seen. I just love his eyes in that first picture. As sad as it is that he is no longer physically here, his little spirit is alive and well in doggie Heaven. I’ll be thinking of you dad as he deals with this loss of his beloved boy.

I am so sorry for your Dad. It is never easy to lose a beloved pet. I am crying as I type this. As hard as it is to lose them, I believe that the ones that are open to the love of a pet are truly blessed, as we get to experience true unconditional love.

Sorry to hear about this. Losing a pet is so tough. We have dealt with the loss of a pet this year too. My cat (of 20 years) passed away.
