The Third Prayer

Happy 33rd birthday honey!  Three years ago when I got you the drumset for your 30th birthday I really thought I would never be able to top that gift.  But this year, I think I beat it.  I didn’t beat on your drums, I mean, I got you a better gift this year.  Wouldn’t you agree?

I am so very lucky to be your wife.  You make me laugh so hard with your goofy jokes and the funny things you say.  I sometimes think the reason you can’t sleep at night is because your mind is racing with all the new jokes you will tell me the following day.  I know I don’t laugh at your jokes all the time but most of the time you are funny.  The thing is, if I always laugh then you will think you need bigger and better jokes.  And I don’t want to stress you out honey.  So I save a lot of the laughs for when you aren’t around.

I love how you get excited about all the small things in life. For instance, when we get the chance to go out to dinner, you will think of the best place to go.  You do research on the internet and read reviews so we’ll have a nice meal.  But nine times out of 10, we end up at La Fuentes anyways.

I love you even more for giving me such beautiful gifts in my life.  And the best gift of all, our beauitful daughter, Mary Rene.  She looks just like you, so people say, and has your goofy sense of humor already.  She gets so excited when your car pulls in the driveway and starts pointing and “oh oh oh”ing away.  She can’t wait for you to pick her up, give her kisses, and then take her in the bedroom to play the “I’m gonna get you” game. 

You let her do anything she wants.  Including, take over your sleeping space.

But we know why you do it.  You want her to be a daddy’s girl.  And you know what, more and more each day she is starting to become one.

You like to do silly things to make her laugh and once she gets started it is hard to stop her.

I guess you like to make all the girls in your life laugh.  You are pretty darn good at it.
